Our pond maintenance company Dragonfly Pond Works (formerly Envirotech) recently completed some regular maintenance on our ponds and provided a report to the Board. Summarizing that report:
Standard Maintenance Includes
- Treatment of nuisance vegetation in basin as needed and as permitted by municipality
- Control of unwanted vegetation on inlets, outlets, and spillway, structures
- Removal of trash from basin
- Cleaning and inspecting drain, weirs, and riser
- Hand re-arranging of riprap at inlet and outlet where applicable (does not include severe blowouts)
- Monitoring for potentially harmful wildlife activity
- Monitoring conditions favorable to mosquito habitats and recommend solutions
- Visual inspection and digital documentation of condition of pond and pond components
- Professional recommendations related to system operation, appearance, safety, and/or compliance
All Ponds: Inspected inlet areas for damage or obstruction. Checked buffer and surrounding areas for erosion deficiencies.
Pond 2: Applied liquid and granular algaecide treatments to control algae bloom. Fountain currently shut off to prevent further clogging until algae decomposes.
Pond 3: Treated water primrose.
Pond 4: Applied granular algaecide treatment to control benthic algae and prevent surface blooming. Applied herbicide treatment to water primrose.
Pond 5: Applied herbicide treatment to water primrose. Applied algaecide treatment to control floating algae and Cyanobacteria.
